Working with publishers.

I have spent over 30 years working with publishers so meeting deadlines and creating work that fits a brief is second nature. I can produce quality artwork at short notice and I am happy to take on single illustrations or multiple works. I understand the quality requirements for both digital and print and enjoy the challenges editorial teams continue to present.

Below are a few recent projects from some of the varied media areas I now produce work for. I am always on the lookout for new types of work.

Recent work

Books

Rowohlt Verlag is a publishing house based in Reinbek, Hamburg and Berlin, part of the Georg von Holtzbrinck Group. They are one of Germany’s premier book publishers dealing with both Fiction and non-fiction. The Ambassador by Sebastian Janata is scheduled to be published in June 2020.

It is always such a privilege to be asked to illustrate a book cover. Working to get the balance of design, typography and illustration together is a thrill.

Magazines

Lonely Planet traveller magazine commissioned me for a series of artwork to help illustrate a trip following in Rudyard Kipling’s footsteps. This allowed me to produce sketches of animals’ people and places.

I have worked for and with magazine publishers for over two decades I hope to continue working with those brilliant editorial teams for many years to come.

Media

The BBC’s Father Brown series continues to grow in popularity, so it was very exciting to be asked to supply artwork for the new season. It was lovely to hear that not only were the art department pleased with the work but the actors were too.

My hope is to continue to expand my activities to include more TV and film work in the future.

Corporate

Higher Adventure are an adventure hire company based in the UK. They lease out Land Rover defenders for camping and adventure holidays. The brief was to produce a Christmas card using my sketchy technique.

Corporate illustration can be some of the most demanding work as ideas often change quickly. My fluid and fast approach lends itself to tight deadlines and changing briefs.
