Bride stones sketch | One-off original watercolour sketch.

The Bride Stones are a gritstone rock formation located near the village of Stanshope in the Staffordshire Moorlands. Legend suggests the stones represent a wedding party that was turned to stone for holding a wedding on the Sabbath. These formations are weathered remnants of Millstone Grit, a geological rock type common in the Peak District.
I stood beneath these ancient, weathered sentinels as the storm clouds gathered, feeling the weight of centuries pressing down on the moorland. Painting them felt like capturing a secret, a silent testament to the enduring mystery of the landscape that I hold so dear.

The original artwork is ink and Windsor & Newton watercolour paints on Saunders Mill NOT 300 gsm watercolour paper. Signed and numbered. (14cm x 19cm)
