Cheviot goats are a feral population found in the Cheviot Hills region of Northumberland, England, and the Scottish Borders. Goats have rectangular pupils, which help them see 320 to 340 degrees around them without moving their head, providing panoramic vision essential for survival in mountainous terrain. Both male (bucks) and female (does) goats can have horns, which are used for defense and establishing dominance within the herd.
I captured the raw resilience in his gaze, reflecting the hardscrabble life lived high among the exposed rocks and heather. His thick, shaggy coat and impressive horns speak volumes of the untamed spirit of the Cheviot hills, frozen here forever in ink.
