Dartmoor Ponies are one of the oldest native pony breeds in the world, originating in Dartmoor, Devon, England. Historically, they were used as working animals in tin mines and for hauling granite and peat across the rugged terrain of Dartmoor. They are known for their hardiness and ability to thrive on the moorland's sparse vegetation and harsh weather conditions.
Standing silently, these three ponies embody the wild, untamed spirit of the moorlands, their presence a quiet testament to enduring resilience. I felt compelled to capture the textured strength and unity of their herd, hoping the viewer could feel the wind-swept silence I experienced while sketching them.
