Deer are ruminants, meaning they have a four-chambered stomach that allows them to chew their cud before digestion. In many mythologies, the deer is often a symbol of gentleness, grace, and swiftness. The smallest known deer species is the Northern pudu, which weighs only about 20 pounds.
When I captured this fleeting moment of quiet grazing, the stillness of the landscape seemed to settle deep into the graphite lines; I hope the resulting print brings that same sense of peaceful solitude into your home.
