Giant tortoises are among the world's longest-living vertebrates, with some individuals documented to live for over 100 years. They are native to only two remote archipelagos: the Galapagos Islands (Ecuador) and Aldabra Atoll (Seychelles). Their shells are made of bone and cartilage, covered by keratin scutes, which helps protect them from predators and harsh environments.
I find immense depth in the quiet stillness of these ancient reptiles, creatures who carry the weight of centuries on their backs. Drawing a giant tortoise is a meditation on patience and longevity, capturing the deliberate, timeless movement that defines true endurance.
