Middle Claydon Fire Engine sketch | Limited edition fine art print from an original drawing.

Manual fire engines from the 19th century relied on teams of volunteers operating side-mounted hand pumps to project water. Middle Claydon is a historic parish in Buckinghamshire that maintained local firefighting equipment to protect rural homes. These parish fire carts were typically hand-drawn to the scene of a fire before horse-drawn and motorized steam engines became common.
