Field gates have been used for centuries to control livestock movement, often constructed from wood or metal. Historically, kissing gates were created to allow humans to pass while confining livestock within a U-shaped area. Many traditional gates use heavy stone posts to withstand the elements and support the gate's structure.
I spent the morning watching the mist lift off the hills, revealing the silent strength of this weathered gate that has stood guard for generations. It feels like a portal to a simpler time, inviting me to step through and leave the busy world behind.
