Slate mine Cumbria sketch | One-off original watercolour sketch.

Slate mining was a primary industry in Wales during the 19th century, with major sites like the Penrhyn Quarry leading global production. This particular scene is in Cumbria. Slate is a foliated metamorphic rock formed through the low-grade metamorphism of shale or mudstone. Its exceptional durability and resistance to water have made it a prized material for roofing and flooring for centuries.

The original artwork is ink and Windsor & Newton watercolour paints with chinagraph details on Saunders Mill NOT 300 gsm watercolour paper. Signed with certificate of originality (14cm x 19cm)
