Historic timber-framed bell towers are among the finest examples of medieval carpentry surviving in rural England today. Many of these structures were built using massive oak framing resting on stone foundations to isolate the heavy swinging bells. The iconic weather-vane crowning the roof has guided parishioners and travelers for generations.
