Warwick Castle was originally built by William the Conqueror in 1068 as a wooden motte-and-bailey structure. It was later rebuilt in stone during the 12th century to strengthen its defenses. For centuries, the site served as the primary stronghold for the Earls of Warwick and successfully withstood various sieges and conflicts.
I sat on the grassy bank for hours, watching the shadows lengthen against these ancient, weathered stone walls. It feels as though the castle is whispering secrets of medieval history directly to me, grounding my sketch in a timeless presence.
