Wensleydale sheep sketch | Limited edition fine art print from an original drawing.

Wensleydale sheep originated in the Wensleydale region of Yorkshire, England, dating back to the 19th century. They are primarily known for their exceptional, lustrous, long staple wool, often considered one of the finest pure longwools in the world. This breed is highly valued for crossing with hill ewes to produce quality meat lambs, though the pure breed remains relatively rare.

I was drawn to the unique, dramatic texture of the Wensleydale's fleece, capturing the weight and flow of that incredible wool in bold strokes. There is a quiet majesty in its gaze, reflecting the resilience of the Yorkshire Dales where this rare breed thrives.
