Wrens are famous for possessing one of the loudest songs relative to their tiny size. The male of the species often constructs multiple dome-shaped "cock nests" from which the female selects the final one for laying eggs. Historically, in some parts of Europe, the wren was known as the "King of Birds," stemming from a fable where it outsmarted the eagle.
I was captivated by the sheer volume and energy bursting from this tiny creature as it asserted its territory against the cold morning air. Capturing that defiant, dynamic song in stark black and white felt like preserving a small piece of wild, untamed music.
