Corfe Castle is a magnificent ruin located in the village of Corfe, Dorset, England. It was originally built by William the Conqueror in the 11th century on a steep hill. The castle withstood several sieges during the English Civil War before eventually being betrayed, captured, and subsequently slighted (demolished) in 1646.
I stood before these enduring stones, feeling the weight of centuries pressing down, imagining the kings and soldiers who once walked here. Capturing its broken silhouette against the soft, passing clouds felt like painting a memory, a timeless monument to history itself.
The original artwork is ink and Windsor & Newton watercolour paints on Saunders Mill NOT 300 gsm watercolour paper. Signed and numbered.
