Haworth is a village in West Yorkshire famously linked to the Brontë sisters. Many vintage street lamps in historic settings were originally gas-powered, requiring a lamplighter to manually light them at dusk. The Victorian era expansion of street lighting significantly increased safety and social activity after dark in industrial towns.
I stood on the cobbled streets of Haworth, capturing the iron curve of this lamp as it held the weight of history against the evening fog. Drawing this felt like holding onto a fleeting moment of Victorian warmth amidst the quiet, timeless stone of the village.
