Sean Briggs sketch | Limited edition fine art print from an original drawing.

In medieval architecture, iron hinges were often forged not just for function, but as decorative symbols to ward off evil spirits. Wooden doors were traditionally made from oak, which increases in strength and durability over centuries when exposed to the elements. The term 'threshold' originally referred to the piece of wood or stone placed at the bottom of a doorway for threshing grain, eventually evolving to define the boundary between outside and inside.
