Pen-y-ghent is one of the famous Yorkshire Three Peaks in the Pennines of Northern England, standing at an elevation of 694 metres. Its name is of Brittonic Celtic origin, often translated to mean hill of the border or head of the winds. The mountain is characterized by a distinctive flat-topped profile formed by a cap of millstone grit over carboniferous limestone. Standing at the foot of Pen-y-ghent, I felt a deep connection to the ancient, wind-swept Yorkshire landscape as the mist rolled over its rugged summit. I poured every stroke of charcoal into capturing that raw, timeless majesty so you can bring a piece of the wild dales home.
