The Suffolk Punch is the oldest breed of English working horse, developed specifically for heavy farm labor. They are famous for always being a shade of chestnut, often referred to historically as the 'Suffolk Sorrel.' Despite their size, they are known for being docile, long-lived, and economical to keep, attributes essential for a productive working animal.
I wanted to capture the sheer grounded power of this magnificent breed, their stoicism echoing the long days spent working the land. Looking into their steady gaze, I felt a deep connection to the history and heritage they represent, making this sketch a tribute to their enduring strength.
